GROWN UPS 2 is a strange mix of scatology and sexual humor mixed with strong pro-family, pro-life sentiments. It all climaxes in a giant 1980s-themed costume party that also involves a giant battle between the town college’s frat boys versus the average folks who really live there. The minimal plot mainly focuses on the four male leads and their families getting into one silly and often stupid misadventure after another, all in one improbably action-packed day. However, where the first movie had an innocent sweetness in many places amid some raunchy content, here the equation is reversed to detrimental effect. The movie reunites some of comedy’s biggest stars in a simple-minded story of summer shenanigans. It has a strong pagan worldview mixed with strong pro-family, pro-marriage and pro-life elements but lots “f” crude comedy. More Detail:Ī sequel to a raunchy hit comedy, GROWN UPS 2 is a louder, crasser, sloppier attempt at recapturing the first movie’s popularity. (PaPa, BB, HoHo, LLL, VV, SS, N, AA, MM) Strong pagan worldview mixed with some strong pro-family, pro-marriage, and pro-life elements but also with some overt homosexual references and jokes about 25 obscenities and 10 profanities, plus some scatological humor, including humor about passing gas and chocolate ice cream made to look like feces, references to urine and urination, urine stain shown, and vomiting for comic effect lots of comic violence including comical fighting and punching and kicking, pratfalls, comical car chase no actual depicted sex, but lots of sex-themed humor and scantily clad women, sexual innuendoes, sleazy janitor tricks women into taking several highly immodest positions, janitor leers at a girls’ dance teacher during recital, other men leer at dance teacher (which comes uncomfortably close to grown men being sexually aroused by an event involving children) and women in bikinis, one character has a relationship with a female bodybuilder in which he bites and licks her muscular arms while kissing and hugging her, fundraising car wash features teenage girls in tiny revealing cheerleader uniforms, and they are about to engage in sexually suggestive car washing when the scene suddenly switches to a bunch of apparently homosexual teenage boys washing the car in highly suggestive fashion, other homosexually-oriented attempts at humor include the real aerobics instructor revealing himself to be homosexual and being seen as a positive and attractive figure throughout the movie, and school bus driver acts more and more homosexual throughout the movie, including dressing in drag as 1980s homosexual pop singer Boy George at an ‘80s-themed party and later wearing only brief underwear with big urine stain upper and rear male nudity, plus lots of female cleavage and ogling over women in bikinis alcohol use and underage alcohol use portrayed at a wild college party, but two teenage high school boys invited to imbibe instead pretend to drink while pouring the alcohol out and one later pretends to be driving drunk to earn approval from bullying, mean college frat boys no smoking or drugs and strong miscellaneous immorality includes bullying but rebuked, vandalizing property, pranks, and some teenage rebellion but it’s resolved positively. Meanwhile, the lewd content is uncomfortable instead of funny, and it includes plenty of foul language, scatological humor, and overt homosexual humor. The writing is desperate to be funny at any cost. Also, the script is so over the top and manic that it simply insults the audience’s intelligence. However, returning director Dennis Dugan does a shockingly sloppy job with many scenes. Some of the movie is funny in spite of itself. The raunchy material is so crude, frequent and overwhelming that it nearly completely drowns out the positive parts.
